The safety of beneficial insects and other Arthropods

Bee safety

The conducted apitoxicological research and the risk analysis revealed that Siltac EC has no harmful effect to the honey bee.

The safety of the beneficial predatory insects in orchards

It has been found that on fruit trees treated with Siltac EC there are a great number of the predatory Hemiptera (Anthocoris and Orius) and the parasitic Hymenoptera – natural enemies of pests.

The safety of the predatory mites from the Phytoseiidae family in orchards

Siltac EC, directly after application, reduces the population of Phytoseiidae. Usually after 2-3 weeks the population of these beneficial mites reaches the level from before the application. Thus it can be said that Siltac EC does not cause significant damage of the Phytoseiidae population.

Siltac EC does not contaminate the sprayed surface

It must be emphasized that Siltac EC does not show any residual effect. It works only when sprayed directly on pests, the deposit of the preparation on the sprayed surface is biologically inactive. Consequently the development of the beneficial fauna living on the plants after the treatment with Siltac EC is not disturbed in any way.

INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT

The low harmfulness of Siltac EC for the beneficial fauna shows that it may be applied in the integrated pest management systems.
